Country Gray Bookcase

I just finished up this County Gray Bookcase.
It's a pine bookcase that was in the need of a little love. It was so plan and no character.

I sanded it down with a orbital sander, with 120 grit paper.

Then I gave it a coat of flat black paint. I apply the paint with a foam brush. I like to use the foam brushes because it gives it a thinner coat than a bristle brush so when I start to scuff it, it does take forever to have the grain show through.

After the black is fully dry I did a coat of the gray.

When that drys, that when the magic happens. I use the orbital sander with 220 grid paper. I do it slowly until I start to see the black grain showing through.  In some spots I let it go down to the wood.

After all the distressing is done, I use a clear wax made by Minwax. I apply it with a clean rag.

Now to have fun staging the photos .
