2016 Coming to an End

Here we are on the last day of 2016!
I like to look back and reflect on how I have grown as a person. I always try to better myself. To do that,.... you have to have great loving people around you. Which I do now and I'm blessed for that!!!

In 2016 I pushed myself to do more and take chances. To learn more, because one can never learn to much!!

I have learned if you fail, try again and again! Don't give up.

When I was out of work do to my knee surgery, it gave me 3 months to focus on myself. I couldn't do much the first couple of weeks. So I was home and able to think, read, and learn better ways to take care of my body, mind and soul. I feel everything happens for a reason.

I'm looking forward to 2017 and all of its adventures it has waiting for me to take on!

Happy New Year
To Everyone!!

Make this your best year yet!!!

Corner Kitchen Set

This was my first true customer's order for Poirier's! It was not a family member or a friend of a friend!! I have done work for customers at my day job but it seems to be way different when it's all me and under my own name!!
Here is the finished product.

This is how it looked before. Dark and a ton of scratches.

You can see the scratches here. They were really bad on the table top.

I took the whole set apart. It was easy to do being it was one of those kit sets. It made it a lot easier to sand.

I wiped it down with mineral spirits first.

Then sanded it all with 120 grit sandpaper on a orbital sander. Then  I used 220 on the orbital sander. After I hand sanded with 220.

Just look at all the marks.

For all the sanding I have done over all the years, I have found the Festool sander to be the best. For the job it does and most of all the way my wrist feels after doing hours of sanding. At my day job that I work 40 hour, I sand most of the time then come home to my business and do more sanding. So when I say sanding for hours I mean like 5 to 8 hours a day :/  They don't call me Suzie The Sander for nothing lol.

I did a section at a time.

My space isn't to big so doing a section at a time was a must.

Ready for staining now! The owner wanted Golden Oak. A lot lighter then it was.

Here are the pieces drying.

Next parts being done.

So many parts!!!!

Sanding the routered part was not the high light of my day. The end grain was a pain to get the dark stain out of.

The table and bench are done. This was the point I finally felt like I was getting somewhere.

And done!! Now let's hope and pray they like it!!

Super Busy Suzie

Sorry it been awhile since I last posted. I have been crazy busy at my day job, then coming home to work on the kitchen set on top of being sick :(
In between finishing furniture I have been working on some small art projects for my booth. It's always good to have small items in your booth, beside large pieces of furniture. It pulls customers in.

I for some reason unknown like to paint using dots.

You can do so many different things with dots and their patterns of placement. It therapeutic for me. I listen to music and just relax.

I have been able to find different ceramic shapes to paint. Everytime I go to the craft store they have new ones.

Other things I have been working on have been reusing shutter for different projects too.

I like to have something for everyone in my booth.

I have also been working on hand made polymer clay magnets and paintings done on wood. I will share when done.
Hope everyone is having a great holiday season so far!!
